Week 4

I really did want to leave this game to fate, meaning that the roll of the dice may end up on something inconvenient at times or something I don't like. I didn't think that the opposite would happen however. This week's roll of the dice came up with Black and White After Dark. I was unaware until after photographing that night that it was the brightest moon we will see in the next 18 years, or something to that effect. Unfortunately there was a thin layer of clouds, but I enjoyed walking that night. Enjoy.

Portraits of Friends

Ok Gang so here are some of the moments that I captured of our friends at the after party. Some of them are best if you know the people but I like them. So here they are.

Next week's post will be B & W After dark, I suppose it's time to purchase that tripod i've had my eye on.

Wedding portrait fail

I was poorly prepared for taking wedding portraits. Armed with only my built-in flash and the standard 18-55 lens, the pictures did not turn out well. I had to fight the white walls, fluorescent lights, low ceilings not mention the family members wanting to get a good picture too, don't they know I have a blog to finish? So I pulled out a few pics that were nice. Later I will post a selection of portraits taken later that night after the wedding party. I think they turned out better.

The happy couple with horrible flash shadows.

Celebratory Dancing, notice the videographer's flash burning a
hole in my pic, every where I went he felt the need to be directly across from me.

My favorite photo subject, this was meant to capture her up-do for the party, it's a potential wedding style.

So three isn't bad, I like the others better.

Taking the Opportunity

This week's project is going to be a pretend roll of the dice. I am taking an opportunity to try and capture the essence of a Turkish Engagement Party. I will be using Color and Black and White to try and capture people's moments of celebration and joy.

Week 3: Color Word of the day: "Partial"

This week I cropped some of my original photos to capture the real "partial" concept. I enjoy many of the photos, hope you do to.

Week Three's Challenge...

Alright gang I am ready to head out the door for week 3's assignment. This week I rolled 2 6's to start which meant another roll of a die to pull from the "Ideas List." That roll was 3 so word of the day it is. Now that was more complex than expected because going to regular word of the day websites left me with volteface and other ridiculous words like that so I found a Random Word Generator online clicked it for 3 adjectives, rolled a die to choose and the adjective is partial. So to sum it all up this week's challenge is:

Color Word of the day "Partial" photos.

Off I go.

Week 2: Black and White Motion Capture

I had a hard time finding the creativity for this challenge. When I saw motion capture I immediately put myself in a box thinking of vehicles. So I had to slow down and look for any opportunity I could.

Hope you enjoy it.

Where Photos can take you.

As you can see from the previous post my mission this week was to capture motion in black and white. I had trouble with this and found in challenging to think beyond water and vehicles. So as I was walking looking for a possible thing in motion I decided to sit along a walkway that was quite busy with Sunday strollers. As I was sitting in the harbor watching the slight movements of the boats in the water I heard "yes please..." (a common Turkish way of getting attention). "Yes Please. You can come on the boat and take picture." This was from a deck hand for a nearby boat. Along this stretch of the harbor all the tour boats park and the deck hands petition the passers-by in an attempt to fill their next tour. Much like I do with the vendors at the Bazaar I ignored this man and pretended to look at my camera's settings so that I wouldn't have to tell him no. I didn't realize that this man was famous from being on Turkish Tv 5 times (his words). " You know for football, you know football?" On top of that he was my best photographic opportunity of the day. Him trick for which he was famous was taking off his shirt while bouncing a ball on his forehead. So here are the pictures that I captured that stuck with the theme:

You never know when or where the photos will come from. Thanks "Federer, Cuz I'ma good at the table tennis."
