I haven't forgotten, but this time of year is busy!!!

So this time in a teacher's life always proves to be a busy time. As the school year ends events fill the daylight hours and your hobbies and side projects take a back seat. Mine has too, I haven't rolled the dice in two weeks!

But I do have a post for pictures I took while watching last week's Presidential Cycling Tour finish here in Turkey. I love this sport in spite of it's doping scandals. In fact I had trouble being a photographer since I was so busy being a fan. Later you will see that Erin had to take over for me.

Cutest race watching buddy ever.

The Astana Team races by.

The Peleton blurs by. Cycling is a great sport to photograph because the jerseys offer such interesting colors.

The final sprint. The winner of the day is closest to us. Erin should be proud to have taken this shot. I was too busy cheering to hold the camera.

Events like this always bring out such interesting characters. This will be my new 'stache style for the upcoming nuptials.

The Letter G in Color

I skipped a week because we had company last week, all the way from home. So the photo blog took a back seat. Regardless, here are the pictures I took two weeks ago of the Letter G in color. I feel like the color from my pictures is still washed out. If anyone has any suggestions let me know. Also every picture will tell you why I took the picture, if it isn't obvious.

Alanya's Manhole covers all have 3 Gs on them, perfect.

Who doesn't love alliteration? Green Glass on Grime

Erin liked this sign, sometime old stuff
has the best character.

Painted gourd ladies are a popular hand craft
here in Alanya.

In fact this is what Erin will look like
when we start our gourd crafting business.

This woman is making Gözleme, a popular fast food
here in Turkey. It is basically a quesadilla with different
fillings. Erin and I plan to make it with Bacon when
we are back in America.

I want free stuff.

Yesterday I read about a cool looking camera bag at Digital Photography School and this bag looks way cooler than the one I currently have. They are giving one away and I just entered the competition by making this post. Also They have some great articles and ideas for photographers.

Week 6: The Color Purple

Trying to find the color purple was not easy in the environment so flowers were the main subjects.

I love the smaller purple inner ring on this flower.

There is a farmer's market everyday in Alanya. Eggplant is one of the most used veggies in Turkey.

Beautiful Hydrangeas.

Who doesn't want a purple house?

The wisteria bushes have started blooming like crazy here in Alanya. They are beautiful, but they smell so bad.

Week 5: Archive search for Emotion

So I found some of the Pictures that I felt either conveyed an emotion or made me feel an emotion. On a fundamental level that is why we choose to click the shutter right.

Love

Added Plan

So I missed my walk last week due to having a busy weekend that included working (boo). Since I didn't get to take a walk I decided to add a new possibility to this project. Since half of photography is what happens after the photo is taken I have decided to roll the dice and use archived pictures to complete the project. These photos must be taken by me but I can manipulate them as I wish, It's my game I make the rules.

The topic: Color word of the Day: Emotion

This will be cool.

Week 4

I really did want to leave this game to fate, meaning that the roll of the dice may end up on something inconvenient at times or something I don't like. I didn't think that the opposite would happen however. This week's roll of the dice came up with Black and White After Dark. I was unaware until after photographing that night that it was the brightest moon we will see in the next 18 years, or something to that effect. Unfortunately there was a thin layer of clouds, but I enjoyed walking that night. Enjoy.

Portraits of Friends

Ok Gang so here are some of the moments that I captured of our friends at the after party. Some of them are best if you know the people but I like them. So here they are.

Next week's post will be B & W After dark, I suppose it's time to purchase that tripod i've had my eye on.

Wedding portrait fail

I was poorly prepared for taking wedding portraits. Armed with only my built-in flash and the standard 18-55 lens, the pictures did not turn out well. I had to fight the white walls, fluorescent lights, low ceilings not mention the family members wanting to get a good picture too, don't they know I have a blog to finish? So I pulled out a few pics that were nice. Later I will post a selection of portraits taken later that night after the wedding party. I think they turned out better.

The happy couple with horrible flash shadows.

Celebratory Dancing, notice the videographer's flash burning a
hole in my pic, every where I went he felt the need to be directly across from me.

My favorite photo subject, this was meant to capture her up-do for the party, it's a potential wedding style.

So three isn't bad, I like the others better.

Taking the Opportunity

This week's project is going to be a pretend roll of the dice. I am taking an opportunity to try and capture the essence of a Turkish Engagement Party. I will be using Color and Black and White to try and capture people's moments of celebration and joy.

Week 3: Color Word of the day: "Partial"

This week I cropped some of my original photos to capture the real "partial" concept. I enjoy many of the photos, hope you do to.

Week Three's Challenge...

Alright gang I am ready to head out the door for week 3's assignment. This week I rolled 2 6's to start which meant another roll of a die to pull from the "Ideas List." That roll was 3 so word of the day it is. Now that was more complex than expected because going to regular word of the day websites left me with volteface and other ridiculous words like that so I found a Random Word Generator online clicked it for 3 adjectives, rolled a die to choose and the adjective is partial. So to sum it all up this week's challenge is:

Color Word of the day "Partial" photos.

Off I go.

Week 2: Black and White Motion Capture

I had a hard time finding the creativity for this challenge. When I saw motion capture I immediately put myself in a box thinking of vehicles. So I had to slow down and look for any opportunity I could.

Hope you enjoy it.
